Remarks of Ambassador Jeff Daigle on the Occasion of the Delivery of Final Certificates and Completion of the Project Implemented by APIMUD
APIMUD, Achada de São Filipe
October 3, 2023
Madam President of APIMUD (Eurídice Andrade)
Dear Collaborators and Members of APIMUD
Ladies Beneficiaries
Ladies and Gentlemen
It is an immense pleasure for me to be present at this ceremony. I know that in March you celebrated the end of the first phase of training financed by the project. Today, we mark the successful conclusion of our partnership.
This is a project that promotes social inclusion and economic empowerment. These are priorities and values that the United States shares with Cabo Verde and its civil society. We are proud that, through the self-help fund, we work with several organizations like APIMUD to support inclusive development in several communities in Cabo Verde.
I congratulate APIMUD for designing and implementing the Project “Empowering Women with Disabilities” through the activation of the cutting and sewing atelier. With an investment of more than eight thousand dollars, the project financed training in cutting and sewing, and basic knowledge in small business management, as well as the purchase of sewing materials. The beneficiaries are prepared to make clothes and have access to better economic opportunities.
The contribution of women to the inclusive and sustainable development process in our countries is undeniable. Therefore, I believe in the positive impacts of our partnership with APIMUD. We are promoting income-generating activities as well as economic and social inclusion, which will help improve the lives of many families and the community.
The new opportunities and economic empowerment will directly impact the beneficiaries and their families. Indirectly, we are talking about a community of around thirty-eight thousand people.
I address a word to the beneficiaries. I hope you make the most of the project and that you are successful in your activities. Congratulations and good luck!
I conclude by thanking APIMUD, expressing our appreciation for the work done to promote and include women with disabilities, improving their living conditions.
Thank you and congratulations to you all!
