Dear Partners, Dear Trainees

Good afternoon!

The certificates we are delivering today mark the end of an important journey and the beginning of a promising path for the group of young people who have successfully completed this course.

In partnership with Espaço Aberto Safende, IEFP, and other partners, the self-help fund of the US Embassy funded the project “Training to Create Employment Opportunities”, budgeted at $9,000.  In addition to training, the project funded toolkits for those who completed the course.

Thus, not only do young people have the knowledge and tools to take advantage of self-employment and income generation opportunities, but the Safende community has now a group of young people who are technically trained to repair and install household appliances.

It is with satisfaction that I see that the project responds to the main aspects of the self-help fund, namely the promotion of income generation and employment in the community.  The project is also in line with the Embassy’s mission objectives, contributing to economic and inclusive development in Cabo Verde.

Before I finish, I want to leave a word to the graduates.  I hope that the knowledge acquired, and the materials provided will open the door to job opportunities.  Wishes for many successes!

I thank Espaço Safende, the IEFP and the other partners for their work in implementing the project.

Thank you all!
